  • We also have an extensive inventory lying with us, including knives, spacer, shaft assemblies, wear plates, motors, etc.

How We Rebuilt Knives

Let us now show you, how we carry out the rebuilding process for a few spare parts originally produced by FORNNAX. While using the Shredder machinery, it can be seen that knives can generally wear out with excessive use. This lowers down their shearing efficiency and the only solution is to replace the knives with new ones. FORNNAX provides an affordable alternative to this process, which is rebuilding of wear plates and knives. Moreover, it is witnessed that the rebuilt parts last for a longer period compared to new parts because of the additional hardness they possess.

So, here’s how rebuilding process for shredder knives and wear plates takes place.

Firstly, our specialists inspect the wear out knives and make an assessment about the thickness and spacing that will be required after the rebuilt. The technicians have to ground off enough metal to make space for the spacer and an additional cutter at a specific location. At this stage, we determine whether any of the cutters will be impossible to retrieve.

After this, we will disassemble the shredder knives from the cutting chamber. Now, a particular hardfacing wire is welded on to the cutter face for higher abrasion and low impact applications. These include high-impact applications like non-shreddables and tire shredding.

Secondly, the knives go through a massive process of re-grinding where the edges are built back for re-sharpening. Our team will ground the outer diameter to compare with the actual dimensions, and sides are grounded to make them flat. This leads to achieving proper thickness for the re-assembling process. Our technicians will also check the spacers so that from cutter to cutter shear gaps are maintained according to the original specification. We disassemble wear plates from the cutting chamber. With specific hardfacing technique and welding, it is grounded to compare and check as per the actual dimensions.

Finally, with this process, we re-built the spacers, knives, and wear plates at FORNNAX.
